Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. When you set up your profile, we collect your display name, zip code, and optionally a profile photo and bio.

When you log a cat sighting, we collect the geographic coordinates you provide. When you post content, we store the text and any photos you upload.

How We Use Your Information

We use your email address to authenticate your account and, if you opt in, to send you updates and offers from Cat Tracks and trusted pet brand partners. We use your zip code to show you relevant local content. Sighting coordinates are used to display cat locations on maps within the Service.

What Other Users Can See

Your display name, profile photo, bio, posts, and cat profiles are visible to other logged-in users. Sighting coordinates you submit are visible to other users on cat profile pages. Your email address is never displayed publicly.

Photos

Photos you upload — including profile photos, cat photos, and sighting photos — are stored on our servers and displayed within the Service. We do not sell your photos to third parties.

Data Retention

If you delete your account, your authentication data and profile are deleted. Posts and sightings you created are retained in anonymized form to preserve community cat records, unless you request full deletion by contacting us.

Third-Party Services

Cat Tracks uses OpenStreetMap for map display. Sighting coordinates are used to render maps via OpenStreetMap's tile servers, which are subject to OpenStreetMap's own privacy policy. If you make a payment through Cat Tracks, payment processing is handled by Stripe and subject to Stripe's privacy policy.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at feedback@cattracks.org. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Cat Tracks is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account.
